We help Business Owners sell their Companies! Our focus is on companies in the Manufacturing, Energy Distribution & Services and Insurance. Jeff Tounge
President/CEO
Jeff Sr. started Tounge Associates in 1988 with the purpose of providing regional business M&A assistance. He was the Managing Director at Anania & Associates, a Maine based Private Equity firm, and currently serves on the Board of several of the Anania companies.
Mr. Tounge attended the University of Maine at Orono with a concentration in Finance. He has been a lifelong resident of Portland, Maine and is very active in the local business and non-profit communities. When Mr. Tounge is not running his full-time business, he enjoys spending time with his eight grandchildren, volunteering and is a struggling artist focusing on Maine landscapes and seascapes. He is also a committed Christian serving the Lord wherever he is called to serve
Jeff “JT” Tounge
MANAGING PARTNER
JT is an advisor to energy clients focused on strategic planning, business development, marketing, and negotiations. With over 15 years of energy industry experience, he has held several senior and executive level positions focused on project development, sales, and commercial implementation for mid-market energy companies across upstream, midstream, and downstream business units.
Prior to his energy experience, JT spent six years in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery Officer. He earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and his MBA from the University of Oklahoma with an Energy concentration. Mr. Tounge has four children, a proud native of the state of Maine, and an active member of his local church in the Kennebunk community.
MATTHEW PORTER
SENIOR ADVISOR OIL, PROPANE, AND HVAC
Growing up in the energy business, Matt developed a deep understanding of the industry which led to the founding of Tidewater Oil Company, a thriving oil, propane and service business. By adhering to strong Christian values, he successfully navigated the company through a variety of challenges and opportunities, achieving substantial growth and profitability. His strategic decision to sell the business marked a pivotal moment in his career, opening the door to new professional endeavors.
Matt holds an undergraduate degree from Husson College and brings a wealth of experience to the mergers and acquisitions landscape. Outside of his professional life, Matt is an aspiring writer with a passion for spending time with his family, traveling, and enjoying outdoor activities throughout his home state of Maine.
Hunter Carroll
M&A Advisor – INsurance
With over a decade of experience in the insurance industry, Hunter is a former agency owner who successfully sold his business in 2023. He understands the unique challenges and opportunities that come with owning insurance agencies, and he wants to utilize his experience to help other agency owners successfully plan their own exits.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Hunter moved to Massachusetts to earn his undergraduate degree from Gordon College and his MBA from Endicott College. He also obtained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, providing him with a greater understanding of the property and casualty insurance industry. When he is not working, he loves to hike in the woods with his wife and watch his two sons play basketball, baseball, and soccer.
